Ricoh announced the production of new action camera WG-M2 from this April. The new 4K member of the small family of 4K action cameras available on the market offers unique experience with its tough go-anywhere credentials thanks to the waterproof, shock resistance and being freeze-proof. Compared to its rivals, the WG-M2 model have ultra-wide angle lens (offering 204 degrees viewing angle). Compared to GoPro or Sony action cameras, this is almost 50 degrees wider. This model is capable to change the viewing angle from wide (full of distortions) to narrow mode of 150 degrees. The integrated CMOS sensor captures images with 8 megapixels resolution and 4K (3840x2160 at 30fps) or Full HD (1080p at 60fps) videos. Video quality is better compared to its predecessor, usable for professional video records. For this job you need good stabilization because this camera doesn’t have integrated image stabilization. The video can be stabilized using the Cam Caddie Scorpion EX. You can also attach the Cam Caddie LED 160 Light to give the camera a light source that it lacks, creating an amazing portable 4K Rig! This action camera has slim design with dimensions 34.1 x 57.4 x 77.8mm (1.3 x 2.3 x 3 in) and weights 136g (4.8 oz). It is waterproof down to 20m (65 ft) for 2 hours, shockproof for drops from 2m (6.6 ft) and freeze-proof to temperature of -10 °C (14 °F). For better composition of the scene it is equipped with 1.5 inch LCD with 115k dots, but better display can be connected through the HDMI port and attached to the Cam Caddie Flashner Kit. It has possibility for wireless connection to a smartphone, tablet or computer, through Image Sync application. This will result in better user experience and easier access to the content without removing the microSD card. For enthusiasts and adrenaline seekers, this camera is good toy to replace their existing GoPro cameras and give themselves wider spectrum of possibilities and more versatile adventures. This camera will be priced around US $300. The Cam Caddie Scorpion EX is only $64.95, combined you will get an affordable and powerful 4K right out of your bag.
